Musician
Bassist, National Touring and Recording Artist, Instructor and Clinician. From Dayton, Ohio, Rikk is a rock solid, high energy bassist demonstrating blistering technical skill, solid groove, and a few unique tricks up his sleeve. He has displayed a wide range of ability working in genres from progressive rock/jazz fusion performing with the Michael Harris Tranz Fusion to hard funk as a writing and performing member of Funtime Freddy. Rikk worked exclusively with the Kelly Richey Band, touring the US and Canada. The band headlined several major festivals and opened for acts such as Boston, Heart and Kenny Wayne Shephard in support of Kelly Richey's 2016 release "Shakedown Soul". Rick appears on the record produced and engineered by Tobe "Tobotius” Donohue (which also took drum duties in studio and on stage) that is a mix of urban/indie in your face, raucous rock n roll, blues, funky bass grooves, and synthesized electronica. Not only an accomplished performer, he is a composer and producer in his own right, Rikk’s debut solo single, “Right out of the Gate” featuring performances from powerhouses Chris Carver on keys, John Arthur Gentry Jr. on guitar, Jason Palmer on drums and special guest soloist Phillip Lassiter on trumpet, was released in March 2015. The single is true to the style of a few of Rikk’s influences, such as: Stanley Clarke,Larry Graham, James Jamerson, Geddy Lee, Adam Nitti, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Rocco Prestia,Roger Waters, and Victor Wooten. Currently Rikk is collaborating with Zack Lemons of Magnolia Supernova in studio for Zack’s early 2017 solo debut release “Indigo Armor” which is blend of jazz, funk, rock, roots and psychedelia. Rikk will be joining the Zack Lemons Band for concert dates in support of the new record. In addition, Rikk continues to work on material for a follow up solo effort due in the winter of 2017 which will lean heavy to funk/jazz fusion.
