Rock and Pop
Notes from the inner-sleeve: "After my debut album was recorded in 1990, it took until Valentine's Day 1992 before it was finally released. That is why most of the songs of follow-up ‘The Magic Infinity’ were written before that, in the first half of 1991. All of those songs were recorded on a Foster 8 track tape-recorder, so lots of bouncing was needed. Especially for the vocal harmonies, which a lot of them on those demos I sang together with Arthur Polini. The only four songs of the album which were written in 1992, after the first album was released, were ‘The Magic Infinity’, ‘Only Your Love’,’The Reconciliation’ and ‘MegaMan’. In the summer of ’92 I bought a 16 track tape-recorder so the quality of those demos got a bit better than the others. The only demo from ’93 was the rock-ballad version of ‘Don’t Make Me Wait Forever’. Rob Winter is playing guitar on this demo. After recording the album, the record company wanted us to get back into the studio to do the ‘Over And Over Again’ trick once more: to make a rock ballad out of a piano ballad. They thought it might work again. So we started working on 'Don't Make Me Wait Forever', the B-side of the first album's second single 'Love Takes me higher' ...but it didn’t bring the succes 'Over and Over Again' had brought. Originally I wanted the title to be ‘Pride and Heart’ but Polydor didn’t agree with me on this. My friend and bass-player Arthur Polini came up with the title ‘The Magic Infinity’, and so that became the title. So now 27 years after writing and recording most of these demos I'm sharing them with you, although very very very limited edition. Only 75 copies were made. You holding this disc, means you've sponsored my new album THE ALLIANCE big time, so thank you very much for that. I always find it a set-back if artists do not evolve over the years, or when people expect me to make the exact same music as I did 27 years ago. I hope you like THE ALLIANCE just as much or hopefully even more than 'The Magic Infinity', and if not, you now at least have these demos in your possession. Yours faithfully, Robby Valentine April 2018" ---- Limited to 75 copies. Sold out in pre-sales. The Valentine's Overture Part II is the finished version, as the original demo-tapes could not be transferred due to a broken machine.
