Electronic and Jazz (Musique Concrète, Abstract, Contemporary Jazz, Noise, Experimental, Free Improvisation, Ambient, Minimal)
An improvising jam band blending nature sounds with clarinet, guitar loops and live electronic transformations. The first release by the international electroacoustic improvising trio of unique musicians from three nations, two near, and one far. Estonian guitarist Robert Jürjendal participated in Robert Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists in Germany. In 1995 his Weekend Guitar Trio won the First prize at Lausanne international guitar festival. They have toured in England, Russia, Lithuania, Moldova, Finland, France, Germany and Sweden under the sponsorship of Eesti Konsert, and have recorded five CDs. Since 1997 Jürjendal has taught guitar at the Old Town Music House in Tallinn. Petri Kuljuntausta is one of the most celebrated electronic artists in Finland, the author of the 'On/Off', the definitive history of Finnish electronic music, and 'eXtreme Sound'. Kuljuntausta has performed or collaborated with Morton Subotnick, AtauTanaka, Richard Lerman, Markus Reuter and Sami van Ingen. In 2004 Star's End and Inner Space radio shows selected Kuljuntausta's 'Momentum' as one of the most significant CD releases of the year. David Rothenberg is also a composer and author, having written 'Why Birds Sing', now published in six languages and turned into a BBC TV documentary, about his live music-making with birds. In 2008 published a sequel, 'Thousand Mile Song', about making music live with whales. Rothenberg has performed or recorded with Marilyn Crispell, Hamid Drake, Glen Velez, Peter Gabriel, Ray Phiri, Nils Økland, and the Karnataka College of Percussion. He has six albums out under his own name, including 'On the Cliffs Of the Heart', voted as one of the best records of the year 1995 by Jazziz magazine.
