Born 11th November 1948, Mufulira, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia). After a not successful try for a performing career with local bands Sound Reason and Hocus (2), he migrated to the UK and soon switched focus to producing. The award-winning record producer and song-writer's most famous early production work is with Graham Parker & The Rumour, City Boy and The Boomtown Rats in the late 1970's. In 1979 he produced AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" bringing to that his future distinctive, powerful & effective sonic treatment. Through the 1980's and early 1990's, he most famously worked with Def Leppard, Foreigner, Bryan Adams and Billy Ocean amongst others. In the 1970's he was married to singer Stevie Lange. On 28th December 1993 he married Shania Twain, and started writing and producing country/mainstream cross-over music. Since 1999 he has continued producing and song-writing with Shania, and also worked with Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys, The Corrs and Britney Spears. Mutt has a son Eja [pronounced Asia] with Shania, born in 2001. The couple divorced in 2010.
