Robert Thompson, Organist and Assistant Professor of Music at St. Olaf College, received his bachelor's degree from Southwestern Methodist University where he studied with Dora Barclay and Robert Anderson. In 1963 Mr. Thompson went to Germany on a Fulbright Grant to study with Helmut Walcha. While in Germany he played many recitals and recorded a program of American music for Radio Bremen. Since returning from Europe, Mr. Thompson received a Doctorate from the University of Michigan (study with Marilyn Mason (2) and Robert Glasgow) and has published his edition of two volumes of eighth-century organ music. After teaching one year at Hope College, Holland, Michigan, Mr. Thompson joined the faculty of St. Olaf College in 1969. He has since made to trips to Europe studying historical organs and giving recitals in France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland. He has also made recordings of contemporary American organ music for Radio Finland, and for Norwegian State Radio, Bergen.
