Robert White studied orchestral trumpet playing in London with the ILEA and later at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. From there he went into the world of freelance orchestral, pop and session music. He then studied various ethnic instruments and traditions and now plays and writes music for over 50 instruments in all musical styles. His work includes theatre, TV and film for the BBC (TV and Radio), ITV, Channel 4, Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, English Shakespeare Company, British Actors Theatre Company, and many provincial repertory companies. He has also performed as a soloist on many film scores including The Lord of the Rings and The Shipping News. He is also a founder member of The New Scorpion Band and Give Me Your Hand. He has a particular interest in the indigenous music of the British Isles and is a renown exponent of various forms of bagpipes. His playing can be heard on CD recordings for Gothic Voices, Ralph McTell, West Life, Girls Are Loud, Rusell Watson, Sir Cliff Richard, El Divo, West Life, Sinead O’ Connor and many other artists.
