The RockArt collective was formed in late 2002 as a full band featuring pianist Hilton Schilder and accompanying musicians on guitar, bass, drums and vocals, with electronic input from DJ/producer Andre Manuel. Its final incarnation featured Hilton together with Alex van Heerden as "a progressive outfit that brings together the ancient indigenous sounds of the Cape and futuristic electronic production" before Alex van Heerden died in early 2009.
