Born in Santiago de Chile, Rodrigo Recabarren holds a Masters in Music, Jazz Performance form New York University, a BA in Music from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a professional degree in classical percussion from the same university. Since his early years as a professional, Rodrigo was recognized as the leader of a generation of Jazz performers in Chile. Press, professors and peers agree on his extraordinary abilities and praise his work. In 2009 Rodrigo moves to New York City and starts his career in the United States. Rodrigo has performed, worked and/or recorded with important artists as: Kenny Barron, Kenny Werner, Wayne Krantz, Brad Shepik, Gilad Hekselman, Angel Parra, Melissa Aldana, Camila Meza, Rotem Sivan, Jeff Miles, and Peter Slavov among many others. Rodrigo has performed in Europe, the United States, Asia and Latin-America in prestigious venues like the Blue Note and Jazz at Lincoln Center, among many others in New York City, as well as festivals and venues in countries worldwide like Japan, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Argentina, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Latvia and all over the United states, just to name a few. Rodrigo is endorser of important drum companies like Vic Firth Sticks, Zildjian Cymbals, the most important Cymbal brand in the world, and Overtone Labs, who revolutionize the instrument with the invention of the Tune-Bot. As a band leader, Rodrigo brings to life many projects that have toured the world.
