A.k.a. Roeland Jaak Mathieu Tijskens DJ Peavey Blaster Jack Matthew Tyson Shunt
Born in 1970 in Hamont, Belgium. Developed an interest in music generally at a young age already, by listening to The Beatles and everything his siblings used to listen to. Got very interested into making music, most electronic, with bands as The Human League, OMD and Yazoo as main influences. His interest also got triggered when he heard his music teacher Chris Inger talk about how samplers worked and how they could be used. Being limited in instruments, he started to experiment with "dubbing", using two cassette players, a cheesy organ and self-made drums, and later on, a computer and synths. Around 1990 he set up a project called "The Real Weird Beat-O-Matics" which was intentional to practise creating electronic music, programming sequencers, sampling, and to improve recording. This lead to a experimental cassette containing 11 tracks. Years further on he met Pascal Schutters, they started working together which after a while resulted in various recordings and demo tapes. In 1996 they succeeded with yet another a demo tape, this tape contained five tunes; one of which was the demo version of what would become their first release as TS Project. Currently uses the alias Jack Matthew Tyson, among others. Roel is far related to Johan Tyskens (Schmutz)
