b. November 9, 1905, Hillsboro, Texas d. July 13, 1970, Hollywood, California Roger Edens was a Hollywood composer, arranger and associate producer, and one of the major creative figures in Arthur Freed's musical film production unit at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Edens is considered to be the single most important creative musical figure from the end of the 1930s until the beginning of the 1960s. While at MGM he work with many top musical performers including the young Judy Garland, of whom he was her original trainer, overseer and a personal friend.
