Album US on DCT Recorders label
Rock (Folk Rock)
This single-sided acetate contains five songs by Ron Elliott (2), the former guitarist and chief songwriter for The Beau Brummels. To the best of my knowledge, three of these songs have never been commercially released. Although Elliott's name does not appear on the label. there are numerous clues that clearly identify him as the writer and singer of these songs. "Turn Around" is a stripped down version of The Beau Brummels song, co-written by Elliott, which originally appeared on the 1968 LP, Bradley's Barn. "The Puppet" is an early rendition of the track that was later released in 1973 on the self-titled album by Pan (26), another band fronted by Elliott. Internet searches on the three apparently unreleased songs yielded the following information, sourced from the "Catalog of Copyright Entries: Third series" issued for the years 1971 and 1972: ONE WITH THE SUN w. & m. Ron Elliott 1 p. Castleford Music 20Jan71 EU229143 STELLA SWEET STRAWBERRY w. Gary B Downey m. Ron Elliott 2 p. Castleford Music 15Sep69 EU137842 THE GREAT HIGHWAY w. & m. Ron Elliott 3 p. Castleford Music 20Jan71 EU229144 Based on the above copyright dates, it seems reasonable to conclude that this acetate was most likely recorded circa 1970-71.
