Born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1949. Died February 21, 2017 at the age of 67. Bass player and eldest son of Red Allen (2). Older brother of Harley Allen and Greg Allen (10). He started his involvement in music as a rock artist, but changed over to bluegrass at the urging of his brothers when they started their band, the Allen Brothers, in the early 1970s
