Born in Fort William, Ontario on September 15, 1928, Died May 19, 1976. Top Canadian Jazz tenor saxophonist and renowned arranger and audio engineer: CBC’s Tommy Hunter Show until 1976. Recorded and arranged for top Canadian artists, Moe Koffman, Oscar Peterson, Anne Murray, Phil Nimmons, Mart Kenny Orchestra. Regular appearances on various CBC musical shows, Juliette, All Canadian Jazz. Smith was known to the best Canadian musicians as “Mr. Nice Guy” and the “Go to” sound engineer of his time.
