Composer / Producer of Electronic
Rudi Arapahoe is an English composer and record producer. His compositions, which have been described as "melancholic worlds of dream and hallucination," are notable for their minimal settings of classical chamber instrumentation alongside technology; in inventive, slow moving, spacious arrangements. Conceptually the works are influenced by his formal education in Psychology and centre on themes of identity. Double Bind (2013) explored the different selves we use to inhabit our various faces and incarnations. The critically acclaimed EP was inspired by the writings of Gregory Bateson (Double Bind) and Ronald David Laing (The Divided Self). In 2015 Rudi took this exploration further by creating a computer program called False Self. False Self is an algorithmic musician designed to compose and play alongside his true self. False Self can learn, hear and respond to improvisation and existing musical score. Rudi's first set of collaborations with False Self were published in August 2016. Rudi's music frequently features as incidental music in film, television and stage productions. His compositions have featured on international compilations alongside luminaries such as Moby, The Cure and Mazzy Star. He has enjoyed interdisciplinary collaboration with the fine artists Piero Roi and Martin Thaulow. Education BSc Psychology - University Of Hull
