RULE 29 is the name for the instrumental music of Minneapolis multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Dave Harrington. The only album of Rule 29 evolves from the piano and might best be visualised in terms of a small classical ensemble, with the additional instruments bringing flavours and movement to the music. In Dave Harrington's own words "much of the music avoids traditional major/minor tonality in favor of octatonic, whole tone and modal scales". Rule 29 is for those who enjoy classical piano, with perhaps a smattering of jazz, leaning strongly to the chamber avant-garde and the RIO genre.
