Since the age of 13 Icelandic singer/songwriter Rúnar Eff has been playing his guitar and singing, but it wasn´t until he was 18 years old that he played his first ever gig in front of an audience. It was at a small hotel bar in Cypress River, Manitoba, Canada that he first tried his luck on stage. Actually Rúnar moved from Iceland to Canada to pursue his Ice hockey carrier, and for years he played hockey, in Denmark, Canada and Iceland, as well as playing for the Icelandic national team for 10 years. Since 2008 Rúnar Eff has released two studio albums, numerous of singles and has played venues and festivals in Canada, USA, Denmark, Sweden and of course Iceland. He has performed live on Radio and Tv on multiple occasions in Europe. Rúnar Eff first album was a pop/rock album called “Farg” that is the Icelandic word for “a burden” the album had 13 tracks, 12 of them written and composed by Rúnar himself and one cover song. The 80´s megahit “take on me” by “A-ha” was drastically changed by Rúnar, This low key version of the song went straight to the hit lists in Iceland and has also been used in TV shows. The second album “Knee deep” was a complete U-turn for Rúnar as he started experimenting with country music for the first time. The album was a success in Iceland and seven of the 11 songs on the album got airtime on Icelandic radio stations, and 3 of them made it to the hit lists Again Rúnar took a classic song and changed it, this time it was “Bonnie Tyler’s” “Holding out for a hero”. The song was an instant hit in Iceland. The other ten songs Rúnar wrote and composed himself, some of them with other artists involved. In 2017 Rúnar Eff and his song “Make your way back home” was one of seven finalists chosen out of hundreds of songs that performed live on Icelandic national television, competing to be Iceland’s Entry for the Eurovision song contest.
