Guitarist, Jazz - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Russ Brannon is an accomplished guitarist and composer from Halifax Nova Scotia. For more than twenty years Russ has performed Blues, Jazz and Pop as a sideman and as a featured musician. Russ has operated Atlantic Canada’s premier recording studio for more than 20 years. After expanding into the business side of music, Russ’s playing also began to expand into areas of Jazz and other world styles. Eventually Russ’s unique voice and approach emerged to its present form. Russ’s playing is centered on musicality and rich harmonic ideas over an interesting rhythmic approach. As both a composer and a player, Russ has dedicated himself to the pursuit of these musical ideals. Russ’s last CD Into The Light (2003) received extensive press and critical acclaim and established Russ as a guitarist and composer of significance in Canada. Russ has been nominated by the East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) for each of his last three albums and continues to play regularly in Jazz venues and Jazz festivals all over Eastern Canada. With the completion of Russ’s latest CD “From Here To There”, we felt it was time to introduce this project to a broader market. “From Here To There” is a contemporary instrumental project based in the various “temperatures” of Smooth Jazz with visits to World Music and New Age.
