Songwriter and children's educational music publisher. Roberts is best-known for her children's songs, sports songs, and love songs. From 1950s onward, Roberts' romantic ballads and playful upbeat tunes were recorded by the popular artists of the day, including Dean Martin, Teresa Brewer, Jimmy Dean, McGuire Sisters, Patti Page, Debbie Reynolds, Vic Damone, Arthur Godfrey, Steve Allen (3) and Eydie Gormé. Ruth Roberts took 1st and 2nd prize in a songwriting contest that resulted in “Meet the Mets” becoming the theme song for the New York Mets and “It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ball Game” as the theme for the Los Angeles Dodgers. She also wrote children’s songs for the popular television show, “Captain Kangaroo.” She also created children’s music for Elementary schools, including Mini-plays featuring hundreds of Children's/Young Adult songs.
