Producer of Hip-Hop/Rap
A.k.a. RDS (5)
Canadian hip hop producer Ryan Stinson has self-produced yet another charming EP—the latest, “FUTURA,” released through his own label Phonographique. With his home- base in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Stinson made a second home for himself in Vancouver to produce and record “FUTURA,” which features Juno-nominated Ghettosocks and members of Vancouver’s Henry Hudson Elementary School choir, and strongly echoes artistic influences from his surroundings on the West Coast. The 31-year-old hip hop producer and graphic designer was born in Saskatoon but grew up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He started creating beats in the late 90s at age 16 but has been doing it more seriously for the past seven years. A three-time grant recipient of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Stinson’s debut, self-produced LP “Open Mic” was released in 2006 and features Moka Only, Muneshine and Emilio Rojas. In 2010 Stinson collaborated with Chapter Thrive on an album titled “20 Something,” also released through Phonographique, and over the past few years, his production has been featured on a variety of albums from both Canadian and American hip hop artists. Saskatchewan can now claim Phonographique alongside bunny hug and Vi-Co.
