Greek hip hop group from Thessaloniki. The S.M.A. (Street Magic Art) duo: DJ Space on music production and Disastah aka Αρχιτέκτονας on the mic started its journey in late 1997 when DJ Space, having already since '96 started experimenting with producing electronic music and Djing, and Disastah created the first form of this group and 'recorded' their first song. The name of the group after some modifications ended out to be XLNZ (Xtra Large Noise Zone). In 1999 Alchimistis has helped XLNZ organize a small live performance, added his voice and lyrics to the tracks of that time and finally ended up to join the group. That was the time when they started their essential steps in the scene together with Fatal Strike, another group of that time which Dj Space has already been collaborating with. The highlight of that moment was the Municipality of Pylaia Festival (Thessaloniki) in the summer of 2000. Stepping to the end of the year 2000 the already famous since 1994 graffiti crew S.M.A., contacted the two groups (XLNZ, Fatal Strike) in order to rebuild the crew having more and new writers and adding b-boys MC's and Dj's under the same name. The triad joined the lead MC of Fatal Strike: Escape, adding also his skills in producing and rhyming. A period started with continuous participation in live performances (some of them worthy remembered moments of Thessaloniki's Hip-Hop) and the constant support from the whole crew as a multitask entity under the name Street Magic Art. In the summer of 2002 writers and b-boys already started leaving the crew, Escape abandoned the group in virtue of having alternative ideas about the music produced by the group and Alchimistis left Greece and moved to Germany for about 2 years due to the demands of his studies. The latter was a factor that hardened recordings considerably and almost froze out the live performances. But that was not enough to intimidate the group. Some tracks were produced during that time, but with Alchimistis's definitive return in 2004 radical changes had taken place. At the end of 2007 SMA released their major label debut album "To Kimilio" through Grand Royal Productions and EMI Music. At the end of the same year was also released "Manifesto", the first EP of "Filiki Eteria" (The Friendly Society), the new greek super-group created in 2007 consisting of SIfu VERSUS, SMA, Adamantas, Sparky T, Diveno & ISO XL. In May 2009 Alchimistis left the band and a month later, Disastah & DJ Space decided to release their second, already completed (since 2008), album "Στο Μεταξύ" ("In The Meantime"), independently (limited copies) exclusively through Lotus Record Store and parallely for free download through "www.hiphop.gr". In April 2010 SMA released, with the support of Zoltan Tribe, Disastah' s solo album "Αγαπημένα Μπλουζ" ("Beloved Blues"). The project was mostly based on sampling of classic rock & blues songs. Apart from DJ Space many more producers of the hip hop scene helped in creating the album, such as Prophet of Noise, Tyler (Professional Sinnerz), and Strider. In 2012 SMA participate on the digital single of the greek Hip Hop legend Dimitris Mentzelos of Imiskoubria "Όσα Και Να Πω" (Whatever I Say) and in the same yeare they release their 3rd album "Εδώ Και Τώρα" (Here, Now), once again under the exclusive "built from scratch" production of DJ Space. 3 video - singles came out after the album's release: "Η Αδερφή Σου" (Your Sister) / Το Δικό Μου Hip Hop (My Hip Hop) ft. Dimitris Mentzelos & Expe & Μη Σε Νοιάζει Για Μας (Don't Care About Us) ft. Komis X. In 2013 members of the "Friendly Society" and more release the video-single "Ψηλά Απογειώσου" (Fly High) - Professional Sinnerz ft. Tari, Vito, Sifu VERSUS, Komis X & S.M.A. In the same year S.M.A became members of ImizBiz Entertainment.
