Climasócrisis

Album ES 1999 on CEDI label
Jazz (Free Improvisation)

Recorded live in Villamanta, Spain 1999. Comes with Hurly Burly magazine #9 [36 pages, A4] which features bilingual English/Spanish articles: Katherine Hayles: "Chance operations: Cagean Paradox and contemporary Science (II)", Pedro Lopez: "Shape & Pattern", SOK (Raquel Mezquita, Antolin Olea y Pablo Abril): "In the darkened room", and CD reviews. The liner notes includes this text in Spanish and English: "This CD is an attempt to present the work that one of the groups currently studing at the CEDI is developing. This group was formed in 1995 and it originally consisted of eight people. At present, only three of us remain in the process of consolidating the group. This situation is the result of a series of crisis that led to the people who left the project to committing in some other musical activities and to those of us who continue to try and stablish a learning process within the environment of improvisation. "Cimasócrisis" has no other aim than serving as a snapshot of the process we are experiencing - which we will keep on developing after it -, thus leaving a sample of what we were at that particular moment. Inevitably, our current itinerary deals with what a recording implies (although by the time it reaches your ears we may already be something different…or may not). We have chosen a stance that alters our usual way of working. However, it differs from that of a standard studio recording: it isn't the result of months of attempts, listening sessions and takes and, besides, we have also refused to carry out the difficult taks of postproduction. Our desire is that a sample of that other process, that which makes us feel that we have a group, may reach you the sound. What do we mean by this? At the beginning, we though that the group was constitued just by our periodic meetings (every two weeks during three years, weekly at present). As time went by, we have learnt that the labour is much deeper and delicate than we have imagined. Experiencing the group had implied a musical stance which transcended the realm of music: learning about flexibility, honesty, the solving of conflicts, respect towards different opinions… We don't want to imply that we have mastered all this not that we move now through a fool's paradise. our intuition tells us that somehow this process has just begun, but we also believe that we have taken a step that allows us to display a tiny result in the field of sound."
