Sabenza was a South African jazz band formed in 1986 by legendary saxophonist Basil Coetzee. It consisted of core members Paul Abrahams (bass), Paula Goldstone (keyboards) and James Kibby (guitar). Jack Momple, Tich Arendse, Vic Higgins and Deon Slabber occupied the drummer's seat at various stages of the band's evolution. The name 'Sabenza' was derived from 'SABand' and 'sebenza', the Zulu word for 'work'.
