A.k.a. Saigon
Saigon were formed in Paisley, Scotland and consisted of: Jim Baird - Vocals & Bass (Guild 302 Fretless, electro Harmonix chorus unit, Fender Amps). David Reid - Guitar (Gibson Les Paul Custom, Marshall Amps)). Edy Cochrane - Drums (Premier 5 piece kit). "where are the Roses" was recorded in Emblem Studios Strathaven, January 1981 and released in May that year. Although only recorded as a demo, the Single made Record of the Week in Record Mirror. They also performed 2 concerts in Fresnes Prison, near Paris, as a tribute to writer Jean Genet, who had influenced their lyric writing a great deal. Genet had written "Our Lady of the Flowers" while in Fresnes. The images are from Jean Genet's SMOKE.
