Sally is a UK, Cumbrian, folk, flute and whistle player, born 24/04/1954. She remained in the Ellen Valley Band until their cessation. Sally still plays and calls for number of local ceilidh bands. A retail pharmacist, Sally was born in Preston, Lancashire, but has lived in Cumbria for nearly 40 years. Married to Richard, a Yorkshireman. She is a retail pharmacist and it has been remarked that she is often humming tunes whilst working. She is an original member of the Throstle’s Nest Morris Dancers, a ladies’ team from Wigton started by Sue Allan and still dances with the Carlisle Sword and Clog Team. Sally is an experienced dance caller – her style was once described as having the right amount of bossiness and fun. She calls dances for all age groups and abilities, not forgetting wheelchair users. The bands she has worked with include Reunion, Long Meg, Feonix and Noise Club.
