Songs were recorded in 1953 and 1954 per the Jazz Discography Project and the Ruppli discography of the Mercury label. Edwards, Watts, et al. date the release to 1956 which is consistent with Mercury's switch to the 12" format and the black-white rather than black-with-gold-print label. The back side of outer sleeve erroneously says "Sammy Spears" instead of Sammy Spear. Front of sleeve lists the two "Melon TIme" tracks (B3 and B4) as "Melon Time Vocal" and "Melon Time Bell," respectively. Rear track list is consistent with label listing.
