SARNA is a portuguese punk / hardcore band from Leiria (Portugal). The band was formed in the summer of 1996, in the best period of the punk / hardcore scene in Leiria, with bands such as: Alien Squad, Strain, Injusticed League, Sub System, etc. The first concert was on 21/09/1996, at Marinha Grande, where also existed a great underground movement, with Mentes Podres, 605 Forte and other bands. Still in 1996, SARNA recorded the first work, the demo tape "Combate o Sistema", released on the begining of 1997. In that year, the band participated in the compilation "Caos em Portugal", from the Fast n' Loud publisher, with the song "Governo". Being influenced by the sound of bands such as Ratos de Porão, Soziedad Alkoholika, Extreme Noise Terror, Ramones, Exploited, Varukers, Agnostic Front, Madball, among others, SARNA developed to the second work, the demo cd "The Terror of Trashcore", recorded on the end of 1997 and released on the year after. As opposed to what it may seem, the word "trashcore" isn't directly related to the musical genre "thrashcore". It was a term invented by the very SARNA to characterize the band's sound, heavier than punk rock but dirtier ("trash") than the hardcore of the time. In this period, the last concert of SARNA was on 22/07/2000, at Tomar, after 4 energetic and intense years, with dozens of concerts, from north to south of the country (Bragança, Porto, Guarda, Carregal do Sal, Montemor-o-Novo, Figueira da Foz, Leiria, Batalha, Marinha Grande, Torres Vedras, Lisboa, Faro, etc...), with so many bands, more or less known, such as: Renegados de Boliqueime (Porto), Crise Total (Lisboa), Trinta e Um (Linda-a-Velha), Punk-kecas (Faro), etc... Some time after the band separated, due to various reasons. But the story didn't end here... In 2013, after 13 years without playing, SARNA joined again for a return concert, thanks to the friend's support and the spirit and dedication of the members. The adventure continues, with more concerts and the creation of new songs. In 2015, the band participated in the compilation cd "Som das Ruas", with the song "Solta a Raiva que há em ti".
