Sameh Zakout ("Saz") is a Palestinian rap artist who lives in Ramle, Israel. His music features themes of Palestinian and Arab identity and calls for peaceful resolution of Arab-Israeli conflict. He was the subject of the documentary Saz: The Palestinian Rapper for Change. Transcending the violence plaguing his people and his city, SAZ chose hip hop as a means to overcome, stating, "If I didn't have music, I'd probably be in the streets selling drugs and getting shot at". SAZ was inspired to write hip hop rhymes by his third grade Arabic teacher. He began performing publicly at the age of 16 and has since become prominent figure in the hip hop scene.
