Scottish Opera is the national opera company of Scotland. It was founded in 1962 by Alexander Gibson and is based at Theatre Royal in Glasgow. Its Music Directors have been successively: Sir Alexander Gibson (1962-87), John Mauceri (1987-93), Sir Richard Armstrong (4) (1993-2005) and Francesco Corti (2007-present).
