Electrop pop duo Comprosed of two ex members of Pinups (3) and R.P.M. (3). For the purpose of writing and recording, Search Party comprised two determinedly and purposefully unemployed South London lads, who like to be addressed as Lee and Waff. The latter's name is derived from his habit of sitting with his legs crossed, but only a student of London peasant dialect would guess how (i.e. cross legged - Red Indian - Hiawaffa - Waff). The first stage of Search Party finds them heightening their own personal traits of dress and manner, Lee was the singing character, the extrovert, highly mobile, eccentrically dressed one. Waff, more introvert and coolly dressed, was the talking character. Their songs were approached in the mood of the individual characters. Search Party were produced by Tony Mansfield (New Musik, A-Ha) in 1982 at TMC studios London, Search Party later went on to work with producer Pete Hammond (Paul Young, Kylie) on their last single ''All Around The World'' in 1983. Alan & Lee feature on all albums by Mansfield's own group ''New Musik'' mainly on backing vocals; tracks such as ''Living By Numbers'' & ''A Train On Twisted Tracks''. Alan Rear is credited as (Alan Waff Rear). Alan Rear went on to work with Tony Mansfield & Clive Gates on Miguel Bosé's album 'XXX' released by WEA in 1988, Rear wrote six songs for the album, one of which became a hit single ''Lay Down On Me''. Rear still produces & writes music with various artists - notably the electro artist Lee Simeone. Lee Jacob is still active within music and works as a music teacher & vocal coach in England.
