Upon their formation in 1998, the lineup of Jeremy Irvin (guitar/vocals), Kelly Scullin (bass/vocals), Carrie Neumayer (guitar/vocals), and Evan Bailey (drums/vocals) would be otherwise known as Second Story Man to their native of Louisville, KY. The group captured a gentle, guitar-based sound of melodic indie pop that was first recorded on their debut cassette, simply titled Three Songs, in 1998. Following a split-CD EP with fellow Louisville natives the Helgeson Story in 1999, Landmark Recordings released the EP Weddings, Parties, Sympathy the next year.
