World (African)
Produced at Pineland Records Marlton, New Jersey Special Thanks: WRTI-FM The Ethiopian Community of Philadelphia W.J. Walton and Soundspace Productions, Inc. Biography (from back cover) During my early childhood, a familiar sight was seeing my father take his Kerar down from the wall and go into the backyard. There, he would tune and test the instrument and then, facing the moon, he would begin playing, He played, not only for our family but to satisfy his mood - sometimes happy and sometimes sad. Suddenly there was no longer a backyard as his music transcended the immediate surroundings compelling anyone listening to climb aboard his "spiritual soul train." I was encouraged by his music, theory and practice to attend music school at Yared to develop my own musical ideas. I also spent 4 years studying our culture's music in the northern parts of Ethiopia. Later, I produced and published, in East Africa, four collections of this music. Now, the best of my collections is this album, "Seleshe's Collection", released for the first time in the United States.
