Semi-Gloss is a delightful quartet from the East Village of New York City. Fronted by international chanteuse Verena Wiesendanger, the group plays clean, minimal pop songs in all the right keys. Guitarist Jordy Mokriski is the main songwriter, with Nigel Rawles on bass and Shambo Pfaff on drums. The band got its start when Jordy spent a year in L.A. writing songs and absorbing the sounds of the burgeoning Silverlake music scene. He returned to NYC and recorded a magical 4-track demo with Verena. The tape became a cult hit on the streets of the New York and beyond. Semi- Gloss soon developed a devoted following, selling out clubs and opening for the likes of Cat Power, Makeup and Blonde Redhead at larger venues. Combining a Silverlake and East Village vibe, the songs displayed an energy and sincerity that set them apart, a signature style that has come to define their sound.
