Written, recorded & mixed by SD, Dießen am Ammersee, spring – fall 2018. „The X-Rayed Newt“ – painting by Birgit Schweimler. Thanks to Ron Boots for his passion and commitment. Taxon was influenced by Birgit‘s wonderful paintings, my many visits to zoological collections and the following works: Ernst Haeckel - Kunstformen der Natur / Kunstformen aus dem Meer (Prestel) Albertus Seba - Cabinet of Natural Curiosities (Taschen) Henry Horenstein - Aquatics (Stewart, Tabori & Chang) Glazed stares from bleached specimens suspended in turbid fluid. Weathered shells, meticulously aligned in arithmetic patterns. A dragon's claw. The scales of a mermaid. Terrifying wonders from distant dominions. Creation on a shelf.
