A.k.a. Сергей Петрович Ширинский
Sergei Shirinsky (1903–1974) was a Russian cellist and music educator, professor of the Moscow Conservatory (since 1945), laureate of the 1st degree Stalin Prize (1946) and People's artist of the RSFSR (1965). He was a brother of Vasili Shirinsky and pupil of Anatoliy Brandukov. Sergei had been playing in Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra (since 1920), Persimfans (1923–32) and Beethoven Quartet (1923–1974). He shared the stage with Leopold Stokowski, Konstantin Igumnov, Maria Yudina and other notable musicians. Dmitri Shostakovich dedicated his Fourteenth String Quartet (1973) to Shirinsky.
