Singer / Conductor of Folk and World
Maestro Sergije Rainis was born on the 4th of Nov, 1919 in Kotor, Ex-Yugoslavia. He is a famous Croatian conductor, music teacher and singer. With 17 he already became a member of the Zagrebački Madrigalisti (Zagreb Madrigalists). He graduated both singing (class: prof. Lav Vrbanić) and conducting (class: prof. Mladen Pozaić & Slavko Zlatić) at the Zagreb Music Academy. He conducted the HRT-choir and the popular vocalist-ensemble Ansambl "Dalmacija". He also founded the ensemble Ansambl "Lisinski". For 20 years he conducted the Puerto Rico Kazals Festival and worked at the Puerto Rico Conservatory. He died in Zagreb in June, 2008. During his lifetime he gained many awards for his artistic contributions and work.
