World, Folk and Latin
Sergio was born in Villarica, Paraguay (1939). He is regarded as one of the best Paraguayan harpists of his time, alongside Luis Bordón, Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, Luis Alberto de Parana, etc. The Paraguayan harp (also debatably known as “The Indian Harp” ) is the official instrument of Paraguay and a symbol of national identity. It has also apparently become a sex toy. In 1958, the government selected Sergio as the country’s Ambassador of music at Miami’s Festival of Latin American Music. He toured South Africa with Sophie Tucker in 1962.
