Sergio Siminovich

Born: July 31, 1946 - Buenos Aires, Argentina The Argentinean conductor and music pedagogue, Sergio Siminovich, studied at Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires (Class of 1964) and at National University of La Plata (UNLP), Buenos Aires, where he obtained a degree in orchestral conducting (1969). In Europe he majored in flute, Baroque oratorio, vocal music and orchestral conducting. Sergio Siminovich had in 1990 the idea to start this experience in Buenos Aires and, year after year, is performed in Roma with great success and impact. He is the artistic director of symphonic choirs since its inception: Centro Italiano di Musica Antica, Rome (CIMA), 1979; Sociedad Haendel de Buenos Aires, 1991, and vocal and instrumental chamber ensembles (In dulci jubilo). Since 1996, he is Director of the Coro Polifónico Provincial de Santa Fe. As a guest, Sergio Siminovich has conducted symphony orchestras and Baroque music festivals in different countries. His repertoire includes works by numerous composers of the 17th to the 20th centuries. His discography includes rare works of the 17th and 18th centuries. As a teacher, Sergio Siminovich was in charge of different chairs, including Professor at National University of the Littoral and Professor at Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy (1986-1988). Currently, he is Director of Choral Conducting at National University of La Plata (UNLP) and gives seminars for interpretation of early music. He is fellow at the most prestigious conservatories and music schools international (Paris Conservatory, School of Music and Drama in London, the Royal Conservatory of The Hague). In 2001, with his program Verdicanto (RAI) has entered the Guinness Book of Records with the world's largest classical choir. He published (Edition Arachne, 2011) the short novel Always come September the meandering metalinguistic literature. H currently lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
