A.k.a. Severino Ramos Betancourt
Born in Matanzas on June 1, 1903, was a composer, pianist, orchestrator and arranger, one of the great Cuban musicians, he worked as a pianist and arranger for La Sonora Matancera and later he founded La Sonora Cubana. He became very quiet character matched his, a man band running all these tasks and some other like visiting stations, theaters and other sites by securing contracts grouping. The fruits provided by Severino Ramos between 1940 and 1957 are of extraordinary value, perhaps most make visible their work are his arrangements and the preparation of fixed singers and guests who joined the Sonora such as: Welcome Granda, Daniel Santos, Myrta Silva Celia Cruz, Leo Marini, Bobby Hood, Nelson Pinedo, Laíto Estanislao Sureda, Carlos Argentino and Celio González, among others. He died in Havana on November 2, 1969.
