Band, 1974-1982 DK
Rock and Pop
Danish group Shit & Chanel had their debut in 1974 in Århus as an all girl band. The band was very popular and inspired a lot of women, though they didn’t directly represent the women liberation movement. They gave their last live performance in Saltlageret in December 1980. A lawsuit derived from their second album (Shit & Chanel Nº 5) from House of Chanel led to a court decision in August 1981, and they had to take a new name – Shit & Chalou. In fact, the group had split at this time, and the new name had only effect for reissues of their four albums, and subsequent compilations.
