Producer of Hip-Hop/Rap
A.k.a. Jay Khan
Producer / DJ / MC Founding member of The Bomb Shelta Association, a crew of artists who recorded an album entitled "Rebirth" in 97/98. The album was never released commercially but garnered critical praise and gained worldwide recognition through word of mouth, hand to hand sales, and the internet. One of the standout songs on the "Rebirth" album was Shylow's solo track "S.T.O.M.P". It caught the ear of hip-hop legend Chuck D of Public Enemy, who in an issue of Elemental magazine, as well as on his website www.rapstation.com rated the song the number one mp3 download of the year 2000. Has shared the stage and been the opening act for many notable hip-hop acts including Cage, Yakballz, Ill Bill, Aceyalone, Boot Camp Click, Mr.Lif, Camu Tao, Red Clay, Jedi Mind Tricks and A.F.R.O to name a few. In 2003 released his debut solo single Moment Of Clarity b/w The Greatest via Fatbeats/Breakthru, featuring production by acclaimed hip-hop producer Ayatollah, and a then unknown Marco Polo (this was his first international release). Is credited as Co-Executive Producer for Marco Polo's Soulspazm/Rawkus debut album Port Authority and it's sequel PA2: The Director's Cut. Both projects were nominated for a Juno Award (Canadian Grammy). Now going by the name Shy The BeatYoda. Currently 1/3 of the production crew The Drum Majors along with DJ Skizz and Marco Polo. Also 1/2 of The Shelter with 9th Uno, with a self titled debut album scheduled for release later this year.
