Yume Nikki is a free exploration game in which you play as Madotsuki, a girl whose dreams contain bizarre creatures, strange landscapes, and disturbing imagery. You wander through these dreams and collect "effects," which range from items to appearances and abilities. The game is praised for its dark, repetitive, varied, and atmospheric soundtrack, and fan remixes are common. In late 2012, I released Yume Nikki Reimagined: Volume I, a set of covers and remixes of songs from the game, and the first in a planned trilogy. I intended to have two more releases, Volume II and Volume III. I would later scrap the idea of a third release and made an announcement that Volume II would be completed by the end of the year. It never happened. Over the course of the next two years, however, I worked on finishing what I had started. The result lies before your eyes and ears. Black Fires 0011 On this album you will find all of the songs from Volume I, retitled and remastered. You will find a slew of new tracks as well. Some songs are covers, rebuilt from scratch. Others are remixes, and the original track is prominently sampled. Others still are simply the original loop, "thickened" up a little by having more layers of sound added. This varies throughout the album. Yume Nikki Reimagined carries a diverse amount of influences - ambient, IDM, drone, and noise are all present in various amounts here.
