Band,
Perth’s traditional power metal experts, Silent Knight have been climbing the ranks of the national metal scene since 2011. Mixing the melody and finesse of legendary European bands such as Helloween, Blind Guardian and Iron Maiden with the aggressive speed of their US counterparts in Iced Earth and Megadeth, Silent Knight are breathing new life into a stagnant and saturated genre. Recently the band played with Finnish folk heroes Korpiklaani on their national tour and the band have shared stages with the best of Australian heavy metal’s alumni, Lord, Black Majesty, Voyager, Darker Half and Chaos Divine. They also played the main support slot on Perth’s Stormrider Metal Festival held in May this year. The band has been super productive of late. They have officially parted ways with original vocalist Zoran Cunjak and welcome new front man Jesse Onur Oz who won crowds over when he filled in on three shows and impressed all with his high register falsetto. Jesse also plays in Ed Force 1, an Iron Maiden cover band where he performs a very convincing Bruce Dickinson! Dan Grainger has replaced the departed Paul Wrigley on drums and was the obvious choice with solid experience and an intimate knowledge of the band having engineered their 2013 Masterplan album Silent Knight will be returning to the east coast for the fourth time in two years to play main support at the Steel Assassins Festival on Friday, October 31 at Sydney’s Bald Face Stag and will also be appearing at the Stormrider 2015 Compilation CD Lauch Party in Perth on Friday, November 7 As a prelude to their forthcoming new album and as a treat for those attending Steel Assassins, Silent Knight will be releasing a new EP called Power Metal Supreme on Saturday, October 25. A term that founding members Stu McGill and Cameron Nicholas have been using to describe the band since its inception. It embodies every element of power metal from the powerful high vocals, shredding guitars, galloping riffs, thundering double kick drums and topped off with melodies the crowd can sing long to. Power Metal Supreme captures the essence of Silent Knight and certainly gives not only a taste of things to come but shows a band in peak condition. Offering one brand new unreleased track and four of their most popular songs from Masterplan recorded live. Plus, a stunning cover of one of the greatest power metal tracks ever written, Helloween’s The Keeper Of The Seven Keys. Power Metal Supreme will be limited to 100 hand numbered copies which are expected to sell out very quickly and are the perfect vehicle for Silent Knight to showcase Jesse and Dan’s abilities.
