Silicone Pumpgun are Barca Baxant and Callrider, 2 musicians who do what they call popmusic. With enthusiasm only to compose and produce songs with innovative character & power, no matter how different the styles might be, Silicone Pumpgun was born. Having met on the Viennese “underground-scene” in 2001, they began their musical road trip in July 2002 playing at a plethora of Austrian hot spots including WUK (support of Amon Tobin), B72, the Styrialpine Festival 03 , Palmenhaus (Hallamasch Festival), & Flex, to name a selection. Silicone Pumpgun’s quintessential roots stem from a unique musical blend of rock, house, pop influences, sampling nearly every potential instrument they can get hold of – intertwined and processed with electronic sounds and beats on the computer. Barca Baxant (originally from the Czech Republic) provides a strong stage presence capturing her exuberant attitude in the power of her vocals and moves. Performing, developing her own “CI” on stage, writing songs since the age of 16, playing in bands and releasing records with The Boy Colin (Brefkas Ready Records), Princess Him (Klein Records), DJ´s “3Volt/Schlachter” (Cheap Records) and DJ Electric Indigo & violinist Mia Zabelka (Female Pressure), Barca Baxant also spent 3 years in London, working on various projects. Having kick started his music career by performing as a punkdrummer, Callrider discovered his passion in electronic music. He graduated from the Vienna Institute of electro-acoustic and experimental music and is frequently collaborating with musicians and artists from a diversity of musical scenes, ranging from pop to jazz (“The Now Unit” with Guy the Guy & Falm; W. Mitterer, E. Tunakan/Wien-Modern; Ph. Quehenberger/Phonotaktik). Releases: “in memoriam Max Brand” (Rhiz), “delay makes me nervous” (Karate Joe). It is the unique blend of Barca Baxant and Callrider s style that creates Silicone Pumpgun, forming an infusion of beats and sounds to do popmusic with attitude. Yes, we are!
