(born 8. November 1957 - died 20. October 2009) US-american disco & house producer, DJ, guitarist, and co founder of Northcott Productions Ltd. which he created with Lourett Russell Grant. Tancredi was a seminal figure in the NYC dance scene. Initially a guitarist, he completed an internship at Swan Song Records after graduating high school and went on to become a record producer as well as an accomplished guitarist. Contracted by Atlantic Records he produced several albums (including Simbora Orchestra, Wonder Band, Herbie Mann, Jeremy Spencer) and collaborated with artists including Dean Parrish, Bob Clearmountain, The Brecker Brothers, Gwen Guthrie, Claudio Simonetti. In 1980 ,Tancredi had a hit single titled "Hot to Trot" which he co-produced and wrote with Lourett Russell Grant . Grant was one of Tancredi's personal favorite dance artists . He invested years into promoting the disco star and formed custom label "Alvarez Records". It was later signed onto to WEA International and Quality Records in Canada. He also included famous producer /DJ John Benitez ( known as Jellybean) in supporting Grant's career and popularity. Hot to trot entered on to the Disco Top 100 Billboard chart with a bullet (moving up the chart quickly) making it one of Tancredi's best accomplishments. In 1979 he founded and created Northcott Productions Ltd. (NCP) with Lourett Russell Grant , a privately held independent music production & distribution company with several labels (including 25west, 4th Floor, Sub-Urban and Ex). In 1983 Tommy Musto joined and eventually became half owner of Northcott. NCP has numerous successes over the decades and retains a publishing and master recording catalog of over 600 titles.
