He graduated Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Performance (Violin) in 2001. In 2000 Simeon won the inaugural University of Auckland Concerto Competition playing the Elgar Violin Concerto. In 2001 he received the Best New Zealand String Player prize at the Gisborne Music Competition and in 2002 was a semi-finalist in the New Zealand Young Musicians’ Competition.
