A.k.a. Robodub
Formed in 1972 Simon Mathewson has been making music with cheap synths, delays units and drum machines since the early 1990's. The vast back catalogue of music he has created and recorded spans genres and mixes styles including electronica, sound collage, spoken word, psychedelia and plunderphonics. He is one half of improv krautrock duo Greater Than Or Equal To, one third of newly formed psychedelic drone trio Echo Chamber Rope Trick and one quarter of Ergo Phizmiz and the Ramshakle Swank, all of whom play live occasionally in one form or another.His dub reggae work, produced under the name Robodub had it's first release in 2012 on Ergo Phizmiz's Chinstrap netlabel and has been well received with thousands of downloads. He has played live extensively across the UK and been interviewed and played on numerous radio programs. He was recently invited to do a mix on Fari B's Free Lab Radio show on Resonance FM. Tracks by Simon Mathewson have been getting regular airplay on Liz Berg's radio show on WFMU and Zaph Mann's "In Memory of John Peel" show on Radio 23. His music has also been used in numerous videos on Youtube and Vimeo.
