A.k.a. Antonio Gumersindo Garay Garcia
Born: 12th April 1867, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Died: 17th July 1968, Havana, Cuba. One of the great 'trovadores' of Cuban folk heritage, who learned his trade under the master of 'trova' "Pepe" Sánchez. In 1926 Garay teamed up with Rita Montaner and the group visited Paris to spend three months touring the capital singing his songs. He also broadcast on radio and made a number of recordings. He had three sons and a daughter and often performed as a duo with his eldest son Guarionex.
