Single UK 2009 on Cool And Deadly Records label
Dance (Breakbeat, Breaks)
Cool & Deadly presents their next bass shaker in the form of two slightly off the wall, club thumpers from Skool Of Thought, who along with Tayo is the label’s top dog. Heart Of The Hood will have your blood pumping from the first beat with it's scatty breaks and pounding bassline whilst also making a statement about the state of breaks with "Everytime something doesnt work, we have to change and make it work so that we can survive". Budgie Smuggla is another one of those ‘is it grime, is it breaks? is it dubstep,’ kind of tracks but leans more towards the latter with it’s soring 140bpm tempo and moody intro. Both tracks defy genre name bastardisation and carry enough fizz to underline the fact that genres are not always important, the beats kick and the bass shakes. Just wheel up and watch ‘em go.
