Electronic and Dance
Skyline Drive is a quiet, independent musician hailing from the busy city of Omaha, Nebraska. Always singing in privacy as a young child, it wasn't until middle school that he began playing instruments. Starting out in a three-piece garage band, he discovered Skrillex in mid-2010 and began producing bass music under the alias Mekanik shortly after. It wasn't until 2014, after two small releases on German publisher Plasmapool, that a mixture of insomnia, the stress of college homework, and Jan Martin's "Pillows" would produce a radically different type of electronica; a melancholic chillout track known as "Letters to No One". The following year, after two progressive house singles on the Artist Intelligence Agency, he decided to rebrand and settle on producing softer, more melodic electronica. Finding influence in projects such as Adam Young's Port Blue and Color Therapy as well as artists releasing music on labels such as Mango Alley and Elliptical Sun Melodies, Skyline Drive blends the perfect, computerized tones of downtempo music with whiny guitars and the lush ambience of everyday noise. Rather than put a name to his face, Skyline Drive lets his music speak for itself and who he is as an individual, leaving listeners to interpret his pieces for themselves.
