Slade the Leveller

GB

A.k.a. Justin Sullivan

Slade the Leveller was Justin Sullivan's alias in the early days of New Model Army. The band's name comes from the well-known Parliamentarian army in the English Civil War, formed by Oliver Cromwell. The Levellers were an influential group in the early years of the army who held ideals of complete religious and political freedom with an authoritarian slant. Their ideas were influential on subsequent left-wing movements in the UK. Justin used the name to show his connection to historical English working class radicalism.
